Measuring 8½ by 11 inches, this original piece explores the tension between opposing forces. The fury of the surf meets the serenity imposed by undisturbed snow, allowing motion and stillness to coexist within a single moment.
 
This work is part of a series created through a layered, three step process. Lane first photographs the landscape as it unfolds naturally. In the studio, she prints selected images on a variety of photographic and fine art papers, refining choices until the right foundation emerges. The image is then overlaid with watercolor paint, extending the story that nature began. Once the painted work dries, it is photographed again, and only the version that best conveys the detail, atmosphere, and essence of the original is selected for reproduction.
 
The result is a piece that balances observation and interpretation, allowing nature and artist to speak in quiet collaboration.
