Measuring 8½ by 11 inches, this original piece captures the quiet moment when moonbeams shimmer across the surface of the sea just before the water gathers itself and rises to crash upon the shore. It is a pause suspended between calm and motion, where anticipation and stillness exist together.
 
The work is part of a series created through a layered, three step process. Lane first photographs the scene as it naturally unfolds. In her studio, she prints selected images on a variety of photographic and fine art papers, refining the combination until the foundation feels right. She then overlays the image with watercolor paint, continuing the story that nature began. Once the piece dries, it is photographed again, and only the version that best conveys the detail, mood, and essence of the original moment is carried forward.
 
The result is a quiet meditation on light, rhythm, and the fleeting beauty found just before motion takes over.
