Measuring 6 by 11 inches, this original piece reflects Lane’s deep appreciation for the full moon in all seasons and conditions. After a snowfall, when heavy cloud cover forms a moody ring around the moon, the resulting stillness carries a uniquely soothing calm.
 
The work is created through a layered, three step process. Lane first photographs the scene as it naturally unfolds. In the studio, she prints selected images on a range of photographic and fine art papers, refining the combination until the foundation feels right. She then overlays the image with watercolor paint, continuing the story that nature began. Once the piece dries, it is photographed again, and only the version that best conveys the mood, detail, and quiet essence of the moment is preserved.
 
The result is a contemplative meditation on light, atmosphere, and the peaceful silence that follows fresh snow.
