Measuring 8 by 10 inches, this intimate original work is rendered in white pastel on black paper, a deliberate and evocative choice that allows light to emerge from darkness. The composition draws inspiration from select sculptures adorning the tomb of John the Fearless, created by Jean de la Huerta and Antoine Le Moiturier and housed in the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Dijon, France.
 
"Cloaked figures have long captivated me. Their presence feels both enigmatic and serene, inviting quiet contemplation while withholding their full story. In creating this piece, I worked in a somewhat reverse manner, beginning with black paper and allowing form to reveal itself through layers of white and soft grey. This process deepened my appreciation for restraint, subtle contrast, and the quiet luxury of a limited palette."
