Lane first explored this subject in charcoal, a medium she finds deeply intimate and immediate. Wanting to revisit the work through a different lens, she later created this version in oil, drawn to the depth of shading and layered richness the medium allows. The result is a piece that balances intimacy with dimensionality, honoring both the original impulse and the expanded emotional range achieved through oil.
