The original is oil on canvas paper. This piece is based on a monument at The Monumentale Cemetery in Milan, Italy. I created this piece in charcoal and then because I wanted to approach it again, created this version in oil. I find charcoal to be much more intimate, but I chose to use oil because of the depth of shading I could achieve.
